A few images from the last few weeks…

I’ve not been about for a while and this trend may continue for a while yet, but I took a little time out this evening to post something. I am trying to catch up with what everyone has been up to. I’ve missed so much!

A bit of this and that from the last few weeks:-

Swifts nesting in the roof above my bedroom. I have been trying to capture the male coming in to feed the female, who I can only assume is sitting eggs, but he's too quick for me, even though he stuggles to get in. Very difficult to take the shot with the bright sky in the background when all you have is a small face peering at you from the darkness. Any advice would be greatly appreciated to improve on quality!

A Herring Gull with a problem, at Par... Fishing twine protruding from the head and I suspect that is attached to a hook, which must be lodged in the throat.

Walkies...

Last night we took Hesper for a long walk and the Abbot kindly offered to take the lead due to the fact that I cannot hold her with my hands as they are at the moment - I struggle to hold the camera, but that doesn't pull, especially when it sees another dog! I managed to get a few shots again!. Thanks Trevor. Hesper appreciated it too. When my hands are better we start the "dog training". I have purchased a Halti!!!

This evening we went to Par - The Little Egret had returned!
We had a walk along the beach and then headed off to Menabilly...

Had a sleepless night, but I did my morning head count in the garden (as always). The young ones are getting cheekily close and the local cats have taken to hiding behind the fence below the fence feeders so before I fill them in the mornings I have to play cat-chase first!
We went out this evening, first to Par and then around the lanes and coast road again… ended up at Hemmick (my favourite beach, but a nightmare to drive to!). We had a laugh though and I forgot about my tooth ache :- )

Friday...

We had a wander around the lanes last night and got back home late; Rescassa, Heligan, Caerhays, Tregony, Portloe, Carne Beach. Saw quite a few Pheasant, 2 Partridge around by Caerhays Castle, which I suspect will end up on someone’s dinner plate come the shooting season in September (and I was too slow too get a shot!). I’m pretty sure I saw a Garden Warbler, but as I got out of the car with the camera it disappeared into the hedgerow, and we couldn’t hang around as it was a narrow lane, so that won’t be ticked on my life list just yet. Saw at least three Yellowhammer. You don’t see one at all and then they are everywhere! Rounded off the evening nicely with a Barn Owl, which flew over and swooped up into trees as we were driving home at dusk.
A good night and as I got into bed I noticed a large moth fluttering towards my bedside lamp - A Swallowtail I believe. I put it out the window once I’d got a shot of it!
