I spent a good couple of hours at the back doorstep watching the garden today on a very needed head count. With the dark mornings and dark nights I don’t get accurate head counts in the winter so today was the ideal opportunity as I HAD to stay in. I was rewarded… My first sight of GS Woodpecker in the garden for months… Redwing in the trees. Bullfinch, Blackcap, Firecrest and Goldcrest all showed themselves!
I took some pictures, but the light was not good, as usual at the moment so I’ve put up the best of a bad bunch!
So, my garden day list today:-
1. Herring Gull
2. Woodpigeon
3. Collared Dove
4. Great Spotted Woodpecker (male)
5. Pied Wagtail
6. Wren (heard)
7. Dunnock

Fantastic Garden sellection,love the Squirrel.
ReplyDeleteYour firecrest is my fav.
john.
Thank you for showing a wonderful view.
ReplyDeleteGreetings.
Angie as you know I would be like a dog with two tails if my avian shots even approached this quality. A grand post, thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Angie,
ReplyDeleteWell what a panel! That's a quite diverse one and despite the low light you did some nice pictures! I love the robin but the other shots are really nice too, especially the squirrel and the blackcap! I would like to see one blackcap one day!! never seen it!
Some lovely shots there Angie - especially the Firecrest and Goldcrests. Always difficult to capture.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great collection of visitors! I have already told Trevor that I shall be moving in as your lodger at this rate! You really get a stunning variety in your garden, I would probably pass out with shock if a Gold or Firecrest visited mine! You did well to get photos too, it is so difficult at this time of year.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Angie and a cheeky Squirrel to round it off with.
Wow, great that you are seeing Goldcrests and Firecrests in your garden at the moment. We see a Goldcrest every now and then, but it must be so exciting to see the Firecrest.
ReplyDeleteOur garden birds have been feeding frantically recently too. We had a Great Spotted Woodpecker visit the garden twice last week and today as well!
Great photos, thanks for sharing
What a brilliant set of garden images, the cold weather is certainly driving them in.
ReplyDeletewhat a long list if I was to make one it would only total 6, plus dozens of starlings, but I do love your photos and seeing the birds that visit your garden
ReplyDeleteWho needs to go out, with visitors like these?
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Angie.
Thanks for your comments everyone.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm finally catching up on the blogs - your collection is wonderful. Whoever said the birds on your side of the pond are dull & nondescript? And always interesting to see the similarities and try to pay attention to the differences - all hints of the evolution of species. Thanks
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and a great list of your backyard birds. I enjoyed them very much.
ReplyDeleteCool garden birds! I love the robins, different from our Australian robins.
ReplyDeleteHi Angie,
ReplyDeleteJust come back to wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year.
Gorgeous variety of birds at your feeder. I get cardinals, sparrows and chickadees and lots of pigeons.
ReplyDeleteI love your photo no. 10 from the top. So cute :)
Brad
