We had a lovely day out in Dorset with Derek, Sam, Ben & Poppy on Sunday, primarily looking for the Bufflehead, which, thanks to Derek we did see. I have a photo, but it only just about makes it into the record shot file! Thanks guys.
Hooded Merganser at Radipole. He could do with a female to keep him company!

Hi Angie,
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful bird, and definitively one of those that I would like to see one day!!! You got very nice picture of it and I love the one where he is stretching his wings! Simply superb!
Great stuff .. Glad you had a nice time. Did say to Trevor about April time getting down to Spit for abit as first migrants should be about by then. Sandwich Tern, Sanderling and Whimbrel. Or we could go somewhere completly different if your up for it ?
ReplyDeleteCheers
Thanks Chris. I couldn't fail to get a shot if this one. At times it was too close to focus!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. A nice idea. I shall email you to arrange something. I was going to email you anyway about another plan I have.
ReplyDeleteA plan .. sounds good. Will look forward to your email
ReplyDeleteNice one Angie,lovely shots.
ReplyDeleteJohn.
Hooded Merganser is a top bird, lovely photo of it.
ReplyDeleteThank you John.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam & Lisa - It is a great bird.
I was a little mesmerised. It is strange how the odd looking one out of the bunch attracts people to throw the bread straight at it, in a bid to make sure it gets a little. Poor thing kept getting bombarded by bread; Mallards and Tufted Ducks all in one go! He handled it well though. In times of crisis - DIVE!
Stunning bird.
